Preventing and Reversing Fatigue
To achieve running 100 kilometers over 3 days in the mountains, with ascents, ridges, and descents, it is essential to arrive on race day in a proper nutritional state and equip ourselves nutritionally to enjoy the event without health risks and to prevent early fatigue.
What is fatigue?
Fatigue is the lack of energy or tiredness. It can be a response to physical effort, emotional stress, boredom, or lack of sleep. Sometimes fatigue can occur with minimal effort or even without any effort at all. In these cases, aside from emotional stress or lack of sleep and appropriate training for each individual, we can prevent or reverse early fatigue heading towards El Cruce by controlling the nutritional factors listed below:
- Treating or preventing anemia and deficiencies in the micronutrients involved in its development.
- Adequate hydration.
- Healthy body composition. Both excess body fat and muscle mass deficit for one's skeletal size (calculated by Anthropometry ) lead to fatigue with minimal effort and are associated with decreased athletic performance.
- Personalized healthy eating with appropriate nutritional goals for each individual, taking into account daily activities, health, and body composition.
- Proper muscle glycogen recovery between training sessions.
